The Veisto Group started its operations in 1964 when the Rautio brothers developed the first balk hewing machine for their own use. With further product development it was turned into a canter ideal for sawing of small logs. Although the machine was originally developed for their own use, word of this revolutionary invention spread amongst the sawmillers. The groundwork was laid to manufacture the saw machine on a large scale.
1980's

New line of business and a new name; Veisto-Rakenne Rautio Oy, not to forget about a new workshop. HewSaw R115 prototype was manufactured and it was tested in a nearby sawmill and further improved. The interest towards this new machine raised and soon there was a growing demand for HewSaw sawn, good quality lumber. Soon the owners were brave enough to start to market the machine and a very first HewSaw was delivered to a Finnish sawmill in 1983. Two years on, the sale of two HewSaw machines to Norway kick-started international interest.
